IELTS Band 7+ Preparation Course

IELTS Course Description

Do you need a Band 7+?  Have you tried repeatedly and not made progress?  Do you need an actual guide to Band 7 success?

Then our course is just for you as it prepares participants for all parts of the IELTS exam: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking modules. It focuses on teaching the skills and techniques required to sit for the test. This course now covers the Academic and General IELTS Exams (Syllabus in Section 1). You can receive winning advice and tactics for both the General and Academic by taking this course. Our strategies are practical and according to our students actually work on the real exam. We have helped thousands of students achieve scores of Band 7-9, jumping from Band 6 to Band 7.5 and Band 6.5 to 8 or 9. We have more than 20 “Assignments” that you can complete to test your knowledge.

Recently, Keino Campbell, your instructor, received a 2018 award from UDEMY that ranked him as 2018 TOP PERFORMER in the exam preparation field.  Mr Campbell was rated a Top 10% Most Engaging UDEMY Instructor. Our instruction team is comprised of teachers with backgrounds in English, Law, Standardized Exam Design, IELTS Grading, and Test Psychology. I have personally taught the IELTS exam for the past 10 years, lived in 5 different countries, and taught students from all over the world.

Note: This is a strategy and tactics course that tells you HOW to succeed and How to apply strategy. We do not sell books and are not book sellers. You must supply your own books we use. Students come to us because we actually show them how to succeed on every part of the exam. We know the exam is challenging, but through our methods you will succeed.

Note: When you are taking the course, do not feel compelled to watch every lecture. What I mean is this: If you watch the first lecture that teaches how to do Yes, No, Not Given questions, you do not need to watch the next 3 lectures that also teach on the topic. Some students need more than one lecture because they are IELTS beginners, and others have experience and need just the first lecture.

5. Writing Task 2 is the same for both

6. Speaking is the same for both

Academic Benefits from Watching General Reading Lectures

Did you know that as a IELTS Academic student that you could GREATLY benefit from watching the General Exam Reading Lectures?  The General and Academic exams use the same Reading question answering strategies. By watching the General Exam reading lectures you can actually develop a strong foundation in the question strategy you need for the Academic Exam. The General Reading lectures will allow you to focus on learning the application of the strategy and then work on applying the strategy with the Academic passages.

You can decide to watch the General Reading Lectures before you start the Academic Reading lectures OR you can watch them after you finish the Academic Reading lectures. Just use them to your benefit.

We teach the same strategies in the lectures in the Academic section. Therefore, it is not necessary to watch the General videos. However, I really think the General lectures develop a strategy foundation that will help you when you are learning these same strategies in the Academic section of our course.

The Academic lectures are at a higher level of English than the Academic and very often students get so hung up on the English level that they really hurt themselves in terms of learning how to apply strategy. Learning from the General Reading section first allows you to somewhat remove general English difficulties out of the way and purely focus on strategy.

Academic Reading: Scanning for Matching Vocabulary Section

1
Scanning Strategies for Reading Passages

Learn how to get better at scanning on the Reading section. Scanning is the key to locating the keyword sentence and having the language that directly connects to the answer.

2
Teacher Example of Scanning for Matching Vocabulary (Academic)

Before you learn the specific strategies of each reading questions, please take the time and learn how to scan for the specific information that leads to the answers.

CORRECTION NOTE:

On the matching question for the language that says "could travel between Britain and China faster than clippers" from book 13 Test 4, the more accurate matching language sentence is the last sentence of that paragraph.

Actually that last sentence in the paragraph and the question are an even more clear synonym match than the one I gave in the lecture.

Question Language: "steam ships could travel faster between B and C faster than clipper"

Passage language: "steam ships reduced the journey time between B and C by approximately two months"

could travel faster = reduced journey time by 2 months
